Petri Lakka has joined as a board member.

Petri Lakka, a licentiate of technology from Jyväskylä, has joined Makron’s board as of December 2024. He brings extensive experience in developing industrial service businesses and international operations.

From pulp mills to the boardroom—and the USA

Originally from Kuusankoski, a town shaped by its pulp and paper mills, Petri Lakka later moved to Oulu to study process engineering. He began his career as a researcher, and completed his licentiate thesis on maintenance services after earning his master’s degree. His career took him to Pöyry in Kouvola, then to Valmet in Jyväskylä. As head of global field services operations at Valmet and later Metso, he spent four years in Atlanta. After returning to Finland, he gained experience at Ramboll, Raute, and Valmet again. In early 2024, he started a new chapter as head of the technology unit at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.

A valuable addition to the board

Petri’s career provides a strong foundation for board work, and his familiarity with Makron’s client industries adds further insight. He believes his international experience and knowledge of service businesses will benefit Makron as it grows into a modernization-focused company. “Perhaps I can also bring strategic thinking—ways to systematize processes and enrich Makron’s vision,” he says.

Looking ahead

Petri sees opportunities for Makron to thrive by focusing on developing its services and strengthening relationships with its customers. “I believe Makron is in a great position both in Finland and internationally. It’s clear the company has skilled employees and a strong direction. Staying ahead in digitalization is vital.”

Relaxation and hobbies

In his free time, Petri focuses on his family and enjoying life. With three adult daughters and two grand­children to dote on, he spends his time reading books, exercising, and working in the garden with his wife during the summer. When he’s not gardening, he enjoys tinkering with his motorbike, a long-time passion.
