Makron will modernize six storage and retrieval machines (SRM) at beverage company Hartwall Oy Ab’s production facility in Lahti, Finland.
The goal of the modernization is to ensure reliable high-bay warehouse operations, improved performance, and safe use for future needs. Makron has extensive experience in similar modernization projects.
This project continues the renewal of the warehouse system with standardized solutions. The importance of operational reliability is particularly emphasized during peak periods, when the SRMs are in use around the clock.
The modernization will upgrade the machines’ core technology to meet today’s requirements. This includes replacing gear motors, lifting motors, forks, and electrical control cabinets. Makron will implement machine-specific control logic and interfaces to Hartwall’s warehouse management system SAP EWM. By implementing individual control logic for each SRM, advanced safety features such as safety speeds and controlled deceleration can be enabled.
The project will be carried out in phases in early 2027. This phased approach allows commissioning to be aligned with production schedules without significant disruptions. The project will employ Makron’s PLC programmers, electrical installers, and mechanical installers.
Hartwall’s decision to select Makron as the project partner is based on a proven track record of successful collaboration. “We have good experiences working with Makron,” says Marko Rajaniemi, Technical Development Manager at Hartwall.
