The next generation takes the lead in family company, Makron, as Marketing Director Johanna Vuopala starts as CEO on November 1, 2017. The current CEO, Mika Parviainen, will support Johanna through the transition time and will finalize projects assigned by the board.
Simultaneously, Makron’s long-term Chairman of the Board and majority owner Pekka Leppänen will take the Vice Chairman position and Vice Chairman Petri Kalliokoski will take the responsibilities of Chairman.
”It is the right moment for the next generation to take the lead. I wish all the luck to Petri and Johanna in their new responsibilities. I thank Mika for his good work in developing the company,” says Pekka Leppänen, Chairman of the Makron Oy Board.
Johanna has lead marketing as well as being a board member at Makron for almost 3 years. Before joining the family company, Johanna worked for telecommunications business Nokia and the plywood business UPM. When taking up the CEO position, Johanna will resign from the Board.
”I am honored to follow my father Pekka’s footsteps and direct our developing company with the amazing professionals in our company. At Makron we have managed to develop a complete delivery concept which stands out at the market. We offer a complete package for an industrial company from a single supplier – mechanical engineering, demanding machine and production line production, industrial automation and lifecycle services. On top of this, Makron offers technology for the wood building construction industry, which is a growing construction industry in Finland and internationally.
“As a second generation entrepreneur, Makron is naturally more than a job to me and I will continue leading the company on a good growth path,” explains Johanna Vuopala.
